To Seek

I looked for you in the mountains high, but you were not there

For their peaks whisper your majesty, yet cannot hold your presence.

I looked for you in the forest deep, but you were not there

For the trees sway to your breath, yet cannot grasp your essence.

I looked for you in the wisdom of men, but you were not there

For their minds are but shadows of your eternal truth.

I looked for you in my own strength, but you were not there

For my heart was weary and burdened with pride.

Then I knelt and called upon your name, and there you were

In the quiet of my soul, filling me with your peace.

I found you not in the places I sought, but in the stillness within

For you dwell in the hearts of those who seek you with faith.
